Appademic
In my Journalism 202 course, based on my performance and design skills in the class, I had the privilege of being selected as the platform team leader for our lab group's collaborative project titled "Appademic." In this project, our group was assigned the task of creating a concept, mockup, website, strategy and pitch for an app that could benefit the University of Wisconsin-Madison student body. Appademic would be an app that students could use for class recommendations, study spot recommendations, student mentor matching, making study group sessions and for tracking study hours. Each time a student would utilize a feature, users would be able to earn points and redeem them for rewards within the app, such as coupons for popular restaurants in the area. The purpose of Appademic would be to encourage students to practice healthy study/life balancing behaviors, and as a result, create a healthier student body.
In my position, I oversaw the production and execution of our project's website, app prototype and related promotional content mockups. I lead the design process of our app's color scheme, logos, fonts and user experience/interface. Utilizing programs such as Figma and Adobe Illustrator to design and create our visuals, I was able to maintain continuity in our products and work with my team in order to bring our concept to life. Below is a link to our app's prototype that provides a click-through experience of what the interface of Appademic would look like.
